The name ‘Musquodoboit’ originates from Mi’kmaq meaning ‘rolling out in foam’.  Europeans first settled in the Musquodoboit Valley around 1783 – 1800. ‘The Valley’ has always had deep connections to natural resources such as agriculture, mining and forestry. We have a student population of approximately 200 students from Primary to Grade Six.

Robert Jamieson Elementary was opened in the year 1957.  In the year 2005, there are presently 351 students attending this elementary school. Robert Jamieson Elementary believes that all students have a right and responsibility to learn in a safe, positive orderly environment.

Upper Musquodoboit Consolidated School was constructed in 1962.  There are presently 57 students who attend at this elementary school.

MRHS sits atop a grassy hill, overlooking the beautiful Musquodoboit River. Its structure fits perfectly with the surrounding rural setting. The building serves as a junior and senior high school for over 400 students. We are nestled in the center of Nova Scotia, approximately 75km from Halifax. We can often look out a window and see deer grazing in the field across the river from the school. MRHS is known for its friendly atmosphere and its dedication to education.

Eastern Shore District High School was constructed in 1966 and currently has 608 students attending daily.  Eastern Shore District High School has a safe, positive learning environment. Our motto “consilio et animis” means with prudence and courage.
