Shopping in Hammonds Plains is limited however there are two strip malls that provide much of what is needed on a daily basis.
The smaller strip mall located at the entrance to Kingswood Subdivision which has a grocery store, Tim Horton's Donuts and a few other businesses. The larger strip mall located at the Tantallon end of Hammonds Plains is called the HUBLEY CENTER SHOPPING CENTER. This mall is probably one of the best malls in the outer lying areas of the Halifax Regional Municipality. It has a variation of places that can be used day to day such as Sobeys, Pierceys, the public library, KFC and the Liquor Store, just to name a few.
This mall is located close to Westwood Hills and Halliburton Hills subdivisions. Not to mention a short drive from White Hills and Highland Park. It is a bit far from Kingswood so residents of Kingswood are more probable to drive to Bedford or Halifax to shop.
Many of the residents of Hammonds Plains shop in nearby Bedford since it is such a short distance away. Bedford is only 5-12 kms from most areas of Hammonds Plains.
There are two medium size shopping malls in Bedford, SUNNYSIDE MALL and BEDFORD PLACE MALL. Hammonds Plains residents also have easy access to Bayers Lake Business Park in Halifax where stores such as Costco, Staples, Future Shop, Winners, Wal-Mart, Home Depot and many others are located. With only a 10 minute drive away, this is a popular shopping spot.
Both Halifax and Dartmouth offer excellent shopping only a few minutes drive away. Because the Halifax metro area is Nova Scotia's largest urban center it is also the regional shopping area. |
