Waverley Memorial – L.C. Skerry Elementary: Grades Primary-6

The first school in Waverley was a 1-room building built in 1866. After being destroyed by fire in 1889, a 2-room school was built. Due to increased population after the war, the 2-room school was torn down to make a new school. The present Waverley Memorial School opened in September 1949 and named in honor of the veterans who served in the war. A plaque was erected in the building naming both Douglas Mitchell and Leo Clayton Skerry, who were killed in action during World War II.
