Dartmouth is part of the Halifax Regional Municipality. It is on the eastern side of the Halifax Harbor. Before the HRM was amalgamated in 1996, Dartmouth was Nova Scotia's second-largest city. It is known as the "City of Lakes," boasting 23 lakes, and Dartmouthians are proud of their kayaking, windsurfing, canoeing and swimming opportunities as well favorite skating and ice hockey lakes.
As with all of HRM, Dartmouth real estate offers its residents a comfortable place to live in an Atlantic coastal town. Dartmouth was once a bedroom community for Halifax, and though it is a vibrant downtown area today, many people still commute between Dartmouth and Halifax. You can either drive or take a bus over either of two bridges, or you have your choice of two ferries that run between the two cities. |
